Forest Landscape near a Pond

This unusually large landscape drawing by Appian represents one of his favorite themes in drawings: a forest with a little river in the foreground, a little boat tied up on its bank, two figures, a man and a woman, as its focal point, and the rich forest trees as a backdrop.
